1. Textiles are a major industry in the Malwa region. Indore, Ujjain and Nagda are its main centres. Handicrafts are also an important source of income for the tribal population.
2. Colored lacquer (gloss) ware from Ratlam, rag dolls from Indore and papier-mache articles from Indore, Ujjain and other centres are well known.
3. Madhya Pradesh is the sole produceer of white and red colored slate in India.
4. There are many centres of large and medium scale industries. Indore and Ujjain are well known among them. Indore produces Diesel engines on a large scale.
