Find Dx and Dy of the given simultaneous equations. 3x – 2y = 3 and 2x + y = 16.

Solution:
Let 3x  - 2y  = 3 ------------------eq. no. (1)
2x + y = 16 -----------------------eq. no. (2)
D =
3
-2
2
1

D = 3 + 4 = 7
∴ Dx =
3
-2
16
1

∴ Dx = 3 + 32 = 35
Dy =
3
3
2
16

∴ Dy = 48 – 6 = 42

Now we have, D = 7 , Dx = 35 and Dy  = 42

∴ By Cramer's Rule
x = Dx/D = 35/7 = 5

y = Dy / D = 42 / 7 = 6
