Baking powder is used in the preparation of bread and cake.

1.     Baking powder contains sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and a tartaric acid. It the reaction of sodium bicarbonate with the acid, carbon dioxide gas is generated.
2.     Because of this gas, bread and cakes prepared using this powder swell and light and fluffy.

3.     Hence, baking powder is used in the preparation of bread and cake.
