Raj Bhawan of Shimla is in Himachal Pradesh. Today, it is the residence of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. It is a perfect English country house. Before Independence, it was known as Barnes Court.
This large building has a Moorish ballroom. It also has some famous decorations by Kipling’s father, John Lockwood Kipling. Barnes Court also has some important historical relevance. It was here the Shimla Peace Accord of 1972 was signed between Zulfikar Ali Bhutto of Pakistan and Indira Gandhi. By this agreement, the two countries decided to solve the disputes through bilateral talks.
