Subject: Plight of Pangaon due to drought

Sir,

I am a resident of Pangaon, Maharashtra. I wish to draw the attention of your readers in Mumbai and other district of Maharashtra to the pathetic state of the people here.

Owing to scarcity of rain we have particularly no drinking water at all. Most of our wells have dried up and we get tap water barely for fifteen minutes per day. In the neighbouring villages, I believe, the condition is worse. We hear of deaths due to starvation and dehydration daily. Several ministers have visited this area and have made all promises but no relief of forthcoming.

I appeal to your readers to donate generously so that we sink tubewells or get water by tankers. Contributions may be sent by crossed cheque/demand draft addressed to ‘The Secretary, Pangaon Bachao Samiti’ at the above address.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

XYZ
