How do we taste food ?

1. There are distinct regions on the tongue where main tastes are detected or recognized.
2. Taste buds at the tip of the tongue detect sweet tastes, those at the back detect bitter tastes and those at the side of the tongue detect salty and sour tastes.
3. The taste buds on the tongue transmit the different taste information as a message to the brain.
4. Brain processes the information and tells us what food is actually in our mouth.
