The pavements in the city which are meant for pedestrains are virtually monopolised by hawkers . Many of them deal in smuggled goods and attract large crowds around them . The result is that the pedestrains cannot use the pavement and are compelled to walk along the roads ,exposing themselves to the risk of accidents . There will be fewer accidents in the city if the pavements are rid of hawkers and vendors .
The Municipal Corporation should not permit anybody to sell his wares on pavements . It is its bounden duty to see to it that the pavements are used only by padestrains .
