Chapter No. 6: Refraction of Light,
What are the differences between reflection of light and refraction of light?
Reflection of light
Refraction of light
When light is travelling in a medium and falls on a surface, it changes its path and returns in the same medium. This phenomenon is called reflection of light.
The phenomenon of change in the path of light as it travels obliquely from one transparent medium to another transparent medium is called refraction of light.
Speed of light does not change after reflection.
Speed of light changes due to refraction.
Reflection takes place from a polished surface.
Example: Mirror.
Refraction takes place through a transparent medium.
Example: Glass.
